airplanes & parents & bears, oh my!

on the last couple of days that my lovely mama & papa were here we went out to john brown beach and watched the planes come in then my awesome friend Danielle took us out to see the bears! aren't they too adorable? i just want to snuggle them, all. can't wait to get home & head off to somewhere sunny with my man and lay out like that bear on the pipe! xoxo

telling a good story

this is spencer. first, excited by a story i am telling, then realizing that it probably isn't true, well half of it atleast!  oh man, i can't wait to get home to that guy, even if he looks like the ghost from christmas past in these pictures (skype always washes your skin out) my mom and dad left today and alli flies in tonight at 11.  can't wait to see that rat.  we had a dangerously exciting two weeks.  one week to go!  my life is about to get a whole lot easier.

spooky day

we set out on a little adventure to a spooky little cemetery behind our house. we thought we'd take a short cut and we ended up hiking through the bush, both kimmi and i slipped and fell on the same patch of green, and both laughed our guts out at each other, and finally we made it to the cemetery. we all got spooked out so we decided to walk over to micky dees for some big macs and sodas to calm us down, and it did. so good. going on a bear hunt tomorrow! xoxo

skagway day two.

we walked, and walked and walked and still were behind my mom! boy can that lady walk someone's legs off! we walked the town of skagway for 5 hours today, we walked down the white pass railroad, to the cemetery, and hiked to reid falls. we walked back into town and savored some mango lassis, did some last minute shopping, watched a couple of klondike gold rush videos at the town historic center, and called spencer and laughed and laughed and laughed. i sure lucked out. xoxo

naturally we had two beds but when you love each other so much you always end up in one bed! & i really love these two.

white pass railroad

we rode the train to canada on the white pass railroad. we saw a couple of black bears playing in the mountains, spectacular views, caught a little bit of vertigo looking down 1000+ feet, and just really enjoyed ourselves. alaska just keeps getting better and better, only one thing really stinks. i miss spencer, really a lot. xoxo

h&g juneau

our first day/night in juneau was glorious! sunny, warm, beautiful, huge cruise ships docked, delicious dinner, & movie night. yesterday was a little more south east true to form. it poured rain! my mom and i tried walking about 5 miles into town when the rains came, naturally kimmie saved the day by flagging down a tour bus and got us a free ride downtown! my dad wasn't so lucky, he had some work to do and was lagging behind a little, when he decided to meet up with us it was really coming down. he got about 3 miles of a soaking wet walk in when he called me to get him a cab into town! luckily my photographic memory came in real handy and i called a cab number i had seen the night before on the road and i got it right! after another delish meal we walked around town. we realized quickly that the thing to do in juneau is drink! since we aren't really the drinking type we decided to get a cab back to the apartment and bundle up and watch movies! now we're on our way to beautiful skagway!

only in alaska...

will you open the door to your dryer and find an eagle's feather in the vent!  what a pleasant suprise, really everyday in sitka is a pleasant suprise.  there is so much beauty here, although i'm excited to come home to my man and my family, i am going to miss this romantic place.  i was imagining being stranded on a freezing cold island desperate and sad before spencer left and i was really nervous, but much to my suprise it has been quite a wonderful experience roughin' it up here alone!  thanks to my dear family who has called me to make sure i am still alive, and spencer for always reminding me that i'm stronger than i think and to buck up already!  here is a quote i've been thinking about a lot being up here alone.

chuckles my landlord left a message on phone tonight at 8:30 saying

"hey olivia, it's chuck.  i'm just dinking around in my workshop (which is right by my bedroom) so if you hear strange noises its just me.  don't want ya to worry and stay awake all night.  alright see ya."

the only thing that could have widened my watermelon smile is if he refered to himself as chuckles.

kim and low fly in on monday and we are off to adventure southeast alaska.

we are taking the ferry to juneau, staying in my lovley friends home adam and bon

touring juneau for a day or two, shopping, trams, hiking, kayaking mendenhall

taking off on the ferry to skagway, a quiant little town with a man playing the piano on the corner

taking a scenic train around skagway & maybe even doing the 1000 ft zipline over the glacier!

after we sightsee and tour skagway and juneau we're off on a ferry again!

orca, hump back, sea otter and lion watching galore

then we'll spend just over a week in sitka enjoying the beauty of what i call home.

after the parents leave alli shows up!!  and PARTY!!

movies, candy, words with friends, and two best friends living the life.

i can't wait, i am so grateful for the time and money spent to come save me!!

one week.

today marks one week alone, and... i'm still alive!  the first few days i couldn't sleep at all, it was like night of the living dead around here.  i was so scared and paranoid and every little sound set me off.  well after i got over that and bucked up a little i've been sleeping soundly for 12+ hours every night!  i hired a native girl to work here a couple weeks ago so it's just been her and i for the last week.  no lunch breaks, just work work work.  a few days ago a girl moved back to sitka from managing the key west store and came in to see if i would hire her, miracle!  now i can take a week off (mind, soul and body) while my parents come to visit!  boo ya!!  so while she's been taking over and i can finally relax i was able to do some online shopping and a lot of phone ordering spencer around to buy our new car, that i just love!  finally, we both got the best of what we were looking for.  me, i wanted a subaru preferably the hatchback, check, under 50k miles, check, dark interior, check, year 2008, check.  spencer wanted dark grey exterior, check, under 50k USD, check (haha), and no rail dust, check.  we are totally smitten.  i can't wait to come back and take the gray wolf out for a spin!  but really, i can't wait to come back and see spencer.  i've missed my man more than i could ever imagine.  we really are best friends, no one makes me laugh like spencer, and no one can get my goat better than spencer.  he's the peanut butter to my jelly, and you all know i can't live with out peanut butter.  4 more weeks to go, big deep breath and jumping.
